Every Easter Basket needs a GOLDEN EGG and these are the best of course! They are made of Kraft paper with gold foil. They are containers that fit tightly together and are secured with a jute bow. I love a good story. I love when things are meant to be and the stars align and shine down on me. On my last day in Atlanta, after attending market, I stopped for a good little meal to fill my Belly, before I left for home. As I was waiting to get my food, I noticed a cute product called Chickin Feed, so I grab the magnetic tracking board and the companion primer book and sat down to look through and to get the contact info. It was quiet in there, only two other girls at a table, having coffee. Well, as one of the girls was passing me, she asked if I had any questions about Chickin Feed. I asked her if this restaurant( Belly) was hers, and she said "No, but that Chickin Feed was her product line." I then asked her if she could sit down and write an order for my store. How is that for COOL. Her second question to me was, Did I know the girl in Thomasville, who has Fontaine Maury. I laughed and told her that I knew her very well, as she is my sister-in-law. Needless to say, we had lots and lots of mutual friends and a shared interest in changing how our children eat. This is a great little find, that I think can have great big changes for a more healthy lifestyle. It is really geared towards little chicks to start them off right. Chickin Feed arrived yesterday, so come in and see. Hooray for Chickin Feed!

Back and BAD

The ELVES are back, and they are BAD. I mean B.A.D. - BAD! Apparently, last night they bound and tied up Advent Elf. They used Christmas Lights, twine, and tape. They look pleased as punch about it too. Of course they absconded the Skittles, that Advent Elf had in his pocket for the boys. To think it is only December 3rd! Their names are Leland and Grady. We like to call Grady- "Shady Grady", and that is being kind. I will keep you posted on our Elves antics. If you think your child is up for some holiday fun, Firefly is an official post for these crazy elves. We have letters that kids can use to write Santa, requesting these mischievous elves, and maybe one will "magically" visit them too. Will you get a Naughty or Nice Elf? It is definitely a drizzle, drizzle kind of day. One of my favorite morning rituals involves a little drizzle, drizzle of honey from my locally made ceramic and pewter honey drizzle. Stocking Stuffers

Several years ago now, my husband and I had agreed "No presents". We had probably done something big for the house or had planned a ski trip, whatever. As we women know, "No Presents", doesn't mean NO, NADA, NULL PRESENTS. I didn't do much granted, but I did fill his stocking with nice french soap that he has gotten accustomed too, some fancy shaving cream, good wool socks, a kitchen gadget or two, and some expensive whiskey. Well, I will never forget when my two young boys went for their stockings and went to give us ours. My husband's face fell, as my oldest, proclaimed, questioned, and said "MOMMY, YOUR STOCKING IS EMPTY!?" I simply replied, "I guess MOMMY has been a BAD, BAD, Girl." Luckily, they were too excited about their own to dwell on my sad, flat stocking. My husband started apologizing profusely, as he reminded me that we had agreed on "NO PRESENTS." I really didn't care, but the irony was hilarious. Here, as a shopkeeper, I provide, wrap, thousands of gifts for two months, and at the end of the day, the shopkeeper ain't got NOTHING, Nada, Null, Nil ! I was highly amused and just glad that I had survived another Christmas Season, as I poured the Mimosa that I desperately deserved and had luckily bought myself the night before. Needless, to say, my husband has gone a little overboard since. He doesn't know that it really doesn't take much- Thin Mints ( After Eight brand- Publix), a bottle of Champagne/Prosecco, and wool socks (heart them)- end of story, morning glory. This year though, I do need my favorite perfume that was completely full, until the boys knocked it down sword fighting- L'Artisan Passenge d' Enfer. Please feel free to give the man a call...Wow, that was a departure. The point is that I love stockings and the other point is FIREFLY has great Stocking Stuffers most of which are five dollars or less. Here are two of my favorites and I will definitely be posting more like the great French soaps for $4.50 a bar.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this book to arrive. I first studied it on a train back to Parma from Florence, Italy. My friend had bought it for her daughter at the Uffizi Museum Store. After I read it and fell in love with the illustrations, I immediately regretted not buying it. Who knew that it wasn't available in the States until this fall. Who knew that I ordered it in June and got it in November. My son's birthday is next week. Can I hold out? I'll keep you posted on that one. If you love to travel, then this is a must. If your child loves to play "I spy" then this book insures endless evenings of fun. This is the ONE. FUN!

HALLOWEEN is probably one of my all time favorite holidays- kids, candy corn, costumes, pumpkins inevitably equal FUN. Even though the weather has been in the 90's, I promised my boys that we would "DO" HALLOWEEN this weekend, which means decorate our house. I can't wait to pull out the photographs of our long lost relatives. You can come pick out your favorite family member too, as we just got our "relatives" in at Firefly. When you have had a store for over a decade, it gets harder and harder to find things that get you really excited. I have found that the things that I do get excited about are often handmade and this artist, Tamar Mogendorf does not disappoint. If I had a daughter of any age this would be in her room in a nanosecond. They are beautiful objects made of linens, wool, Mohair wool, cotton, vintage fabrics, tweed, pashmina, vintage buttons, silver thread, and old ribbons. A suggestion of fall

I don't know about you...but I am feeling a suggestion of FALL in the air. Now, granted that you at least have to be letting your dog out(7:00a.m.) or saying good-bye your sweet boys as they dash out the door at (7:30 a.m.), to feel that suggestion, but it is definitely there. Anyway, I am in the mood for fall. Today, we got some great soaps handmade in my favorite city, New York. As of right now I am there only account in Georgia. I love that too. I am loving these '2 sided scents' soaps. One side of the soap is one fragrance and the other side another. Vegan Paraben free, sulfate free, made with Shea butter and moisturizing glycerin in yummy scents like vanilla/violet, currant/verbena, vanilla/pear, coconut/verbena. Did I mention the packaging is fabulous with a wonderful bird. Did I also mention that we just got a new shipment of R.WOOD pottery, that is where I was trying to go with the whole FALL idea. Her pottery is just amazing and I use to rent the most tiny, precious log cabin you could possibly imagine from her, babysit her now twenty something kids, make plates in exchange for rent, and collect like mad all her fabulous pottery. I can't drink a cup of coffee in the morning, if it is not in her giant latte mug, which is the equivalent of probably 3 cups. Yes, that is a mild exaggeration, but I certainly can't talk without one, and that is not an exaggeration. I work in silence as I gulp my coffee down. Anyway, beautiful new fall colors from R.WOOD displayed with these great new soaps and not to mention, these amazing new candles...you'll have to come in to see those.

For the most part, he photographs everyday people who have a great sense of style. Summer Reading

Don't you just love it when you fall in love with a book in the first couple of pages? I do. It is raining outside and I have a million things to do, as we just got back from Maine last night and I leave again on Wednesday... All I want to do is read but with a dirty house, crazed children, and loads of laundry and suitcases to unpack, it will not happen until bedtime tonight. I have lots of great pictures from our travels to post as well, but that will not happen until I return next week. So immediately go and get this book, I will call the library shortly and have them order it as well, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. My favorite candle line, Tatine has changed for the better, if that is possible... These candles are a blend of beeswax and pure soy wax. Derived from the earth, the wax is biodegradable, long lasting(45hrs.), and burns virtually soot free. Beautiful when lit, Tatine's flea market glass comes from 40% recycled materials. Even the packaging is gorgeous and "green". The woodgrain box has FSC certification (sourced from well managed forests using recycled wood and fiber) and is letterpress printed using vegetable based inks. 100% pure cottonwicks, 100% pure beauty.
